Join your neighbours in the struggle against the root cause of the demovictions crisis in Metrotown: colonialism and capitalism. On Tuesday, July 10th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, at the Burnaby Neighbourhood House across from the Metrotown Skytrain Station (third floor room), we will come together to continue to fight against profit-driven displacement and colonial property laws. Snacks, tea and coffee will be provided. Here is a tentative agenda for the meeting:

  1. Territorial Acknowledgement
  2. Check-in
  3. Reflecting on Paint-in
  4. One year anniversary of Metrotown Plan passing action planning: Questions to be answered and tasks to be assigned: What will this look like – direct action? film? food? media conference? or all of these things? When will this take place – do we stick with exact anniversary or move it to a weekend? Call-out, outreach, and political framing preparation
  5. Newsletter development

This organizing meeting is taking place on the occupied territories of the Qayqayt, Kwikwetlem, Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) peoples.

Hope to see you all there!
