Unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Territory — On Saturday June 13th, residents of CRAB Park tent city and their supporters will mount their street defence against the court-ordered displacement of more than 100 homeless people who have made a home at the inner city park since the recent displacement of Oppenheimer Tent City.

CRAB Park tent city residents, the keepers of the Sacred Fire and fighters for an Indigenous Healing Centre, and the Our Homes Can’t Wait coalition, are calling for supporters and community members to defend the camp and sacred fire and demand:

  1. That the Port Authority recognize the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations are the stewards of the land they are occupying
  2. The Province and City governments house all residents and potential residents of CRAB Park tent city in places we want to live in and begin construction of 10,000 units of permanent, adequate housing renting at welfare/ pension rates and operated under the control of residents councils, with cooking facilities, no guest restrictions, and where people can safely use drugs.
  3. The City of Vancouver, Vancouver Parks Board, and Port Authority honor their commitment to work with Indigenous organizations to establish a healing lodge at CRAB park
