Unceded and Occupied Sumas & Matsqui Territories
Red Braid (then known as Alliance Against Displacement) had connections with homeless struggles in Abbotsford in 2014-2016, during Dignity Village tent city and the Abbotsford v. Shantz case. But we currently have no organizers based in Abbotsford. If you are living in Abbotsford and interested in getting involved in our work, please get in touch.
Updates and Events
On the weekend of June 11-12, 2016 Alliance Against Displacement organized a gathering of leaders of homeless and evicted peoples’ movements throughout southern British Columbia.
This year anti-displacement activists have begun organizing between tent cities, building a stronger, united movement of communities experiencing different forms of housing crisis and displacement pressures.
The fight for housing and health continues for homeless drug war survivors in Abbotsford, but they have refused to disappear and they are getting stronger.
